What we do

Everything below the surface.

Two decades of excavation and a decade of septic work across Central Oregon — one owner, on every job.

Why Leonardo

The reasons homeowners call us back.

Straightforward pricing

A clear, written estimate before we dig — no hidden fees. If site conditions change the scope, we document it and get your OK before we proceed.

Owner on every job

You work directly with Luke, not a call center or a middleman. Twenty years of hands-on experience on your site.

Permits handled A–Z

County and Oregon DEQ permitting, start to finish — including advanced treatment and variance projects.

Licensed & insured

Fully licensed and insured: CCB #239305 · SDS (DEQ) #39106. We don't cut corners.

On time, left clean

We finish on schedule and leave your property tidy — you'd never know a machine had been in the yard.

Local knowledge

We know Central Oregon's soils, seasons, and permit process — from La Pine's groundwater to riverfront setbacks.

Permits, handled

The permit paperwork is the part homeowners dread. We make it ours.

County permits and the Oregon DEQ side, start to finish — even the hard lots. A decade of septic approvals, on top of twenty years reading this ground.

  • Site & soil evaluation
  • System design to DEQ state code
  • City, county & state permit applications
  • Advanced treatment & state variance approvals

Meet the owner

You’ll work directly with Luke.

Leonardo Excavation is family-owned and owner-operated. When you hire us, you get Luke Leonardo himself — over 20 years of excavation, septic, and forestry-construction experience — on your job, not a salesperson and a subcontractor you never met.

That’s why the pricing is straight, the communication is clear from start to finish, and the work gets done like it’s his own property. We treat our customers like family — and a lot of them call us back.

Lucas was the first one to return my message. We immediately made an appointment to meet on my property. He not only showed up with his expertise and knowledge but with stakes and marking tape to get started same day… He was also willing and facilitated my tight budget. Got all the permits and finished the job.

When we were told our drain field was failing, we didn't know what to do. Spoke with 3 contractors and decided on Luke. Really glad we did. He's very thorough and will answer all your questions. Satisfied customers!

Luke and his team removed a dead tree from our property today and did an excellent job. He was on time and gave us a fair price. Very professional.
Elizabeth Klein· Central OregonGoogle
He did all of the excavation work on our undeveloped lot in La Pine, initially installing an RV pad and driveway, along with all the infrastructure for our future home! He was instrumental in helping us navigate through all the planning permits for our build.
Dan Courtney· La Pine, ORGoogle
Luke treated our build as if it were his own, often sharing his thoughts and advice, and thinking ahead about aspects that would make our property more usable and livable… After the build was complete, Luke continued to check in and generously offered his time and expertise.
Dustin Guilbert· Central OregonGoogle
Luke and crew did a great job restoring our gravel driveway… They were on time and professional. The price was fair and they exceeded our expectations with their work.
Dan Ebert· Central OregonGoogle
Luke came out and was able to offer up a game plan to bring the road back into shape. Luke and crew worked hard for 2 days grading, laying gravel and compacting the road. They also created a good drainage system to help prevent future erosion… Completed the work on time and on budget.

He told me everything I needed to know about building on my lot. I thought he was just going to put the septic in, but he was so helpful. He is trustworthy, knowledgeable, and responds in a timely fashion. I told my builder I would only work with Luke.

Questions homeowners ask.

All of Central Oregon — Deschutes County and northern Klamath County — including Bend, Redmond, Sunriver, La Pine, Fall River, Crescent, Gilchrist, Crescent Lake, Odell Lake, and Chemult.

Yes. Leonardo Excavation is fully licensed and insured — CCB #239305 · SDS (DEQ) #39106. Oregon now calls the DEQ septic license a Sewage Disposal Service (SDS) license; it's the same credential. We don't cut corners.

Yes — we handle the permitting from start to finish, whether it's a city, county, or state permit. Septic permits go through the county; a DEQ variance is the one that's handled at the state level. It's one less thing on your plate.

Straightforward pricing, no hidden fees. After a free on-site visit we give you a clear written estimate. It's based on the scope we can see; if site conditions change the work, we document it in a written change order and get your approval before we proceed.

Yes. The on-site visit and estimate are free with no obligation. Luke reviews every request himself and follows up within one business day.

For larger projects, a 25% deposit at signing secures your spot in our schedule, and the balance is billed as the work progresses. Small projects are paid in full to get on the schedule. We accept cash, check, and ACH bank transfer; credit and debit cards can be arranged with a small processing fee.

Yes — we offer financing through Acorn Finance so you can spread the cost of larger septic and excavation projects into monthly payments. We also work with local credit unions if you'd rather finance through your own bank.

You do. Leonardo Excavation is owner-operated — Luke is on your job. No call center, no middleman.
